ABOUTGet ready for change! The Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham (RPCGB) has received an Areas of Persistent Poverty (AoPP) grant, paving the way for increased transit access and equity-focused community outreach. The goal is to empower underserved communities by providing convenient, seamless, and timely transit access, making way for new opportunities and prosperity.
This study will bring new hope and renewal to communities that have faced poverty and decline for far too long. We'll be focusing on three clusters areas that include parts of Birmingham, Fairfield, Midfield, and Lipscomb, all identified in the Birmingham MPO's Environmental Justice document as Equity Emphasis Areas. Our success will be measured by community consensus supporting projects and initiatives that attract investments and create a path for more livable and prosperous communities. With your help, we'll be delivering suggestions for Transit Oriented Development, Complete Streets, accessibility and enhancements of bus stops, and bicycle/pedestrian options for links in and between the transit network.
